Here is an album that will surprise more than one, but after all, Bob James has always accustomed us to his sonic explorations. Here, it is a radical bias: Bob James joins forces with producer and DJ Sam Franz, and the result is breathtaking, confusing, enjoyable…!!
The tone is set from the first title, “Starless Vault Of Heaven”. We immediately take on a post-industrial atmosphere, before moving on from the second title to a kind of smooth electro jazz which, personally, particularly amused me, especially when we have been following the career of Bob James for a long time. Here again, this 2080 album which, at times, takes on spatial appearances, allows this immense artist to seduce us once again with his shimmering melodies. Some of you may find it difficult to follow Bob James on this musical journey with Sam Franz, whom I did not know before having this album in my hands, and I admit that the work of this DJ is totally fascinating. Getting out of well-drawn lines, opening your mind to something else, such is the proposal of these two artists. In the end, we end up with a succession of paintings, crossing spaces, atmospheres, carried by the beautiful melodies of Bob James, which also allows us to look at his compositions with a fresh look.
